Itinerary
Day 1 - Manhattan, New York
Today’s theatre experience will have you looking at the performing arts in a whole new light! You are invited to a truly unique New York City theatrical experience right in the heart of Times Square!
Enjoy a guided tour of New York’s famed Theatre District given by a seasoned tour guide and professional actor. This will be a walking tour (should cover no more than a mile), so please wear comfortable shoes. After the tour, you have some free-time for lunch on your own. You’ll be able to further explore Times Square, shop, or just watch the people of NYC.
This afternoon, you’ll attend the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival (BBTF) which is the city’s only fully-curated theatre festival dedicated to creating a new brand of self-producing playwrights for the modern theatre scene. With the aim of becoming a launching pad for regional, Off Broadway, and Broadway transfers, BBTF selects and presents (on a yearly basis for the festival) 20 rich and intriguing works from playwrights from across the continent. These plays are performed in front of thousands of audience members who are invited to embrace this community-building, joyous celebration of fresh and diverse staged theatre. Your ticket to the festival today includes: a world premiere of a new play that is in its final stage of development and a talkback with the playwright, director and cast following the show. You can take photos with the cast and enjoy behind-the-scenes stories of the making of the play. During the talkback, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and even give constructive suggestions.
