Enjoy a treasured trip to Vermont’s scenic country, featuring: Camelot’s Country Craft Store, Mt. Anthony Country Club, and a visit to The Apple Barn!
Itinerary
Day 1 - Home - Bennington, VT
No trip to Vermont is complete without a stop at Camelot’s Country Craft Store. Thriving with craft galleries, the store is brimming with distinctive collections of local artisan hand work.
The Mt. Anthony Country Club is a Vermont treasure! Founded in 1897, Mt. Anthony Country Club was once a private course, and then a military boarding school. In 1957, fire engulfed the property. The present clubhouse was rebuilt in stages on the original site. This historic location is where you’ll have lunch.
After lunch, take a drive past the Bennington Battle Monument on your way to the Apple Barn. This monument was dedicated in 1891 to commemorate the Bennington Battle during the Revolutionary War that occurred on August 16, 1777. This battle seemed to be the turning point of the war.
The Apple Barn is a unique stop which includes a guided tour featuring a narrated coach ride to the top of the 300 acre orchard to view the spectacular scenery of Southern Vermont. You’ll hear a brief history of the orchard and the area, and then end with a glass of cider and a slice of freshly baked Old Fashioned Apple Pie a la Mode.
