Day 1 - Wine, Wine & More Wine!
Grab your closest pals and hit the CT wine trail! Today’s journey will take you to three wineries for tastings: Saltwater Farm Vineyard, Johnathan Edwards Winery, Preston Ridge Vineyard.
Saltwater Farm Vineyard (near the historic seadide village of Stonington, CT) is set on more than 100 panoramic acres – 15 of which are planted with six varieties of grapes and are bordered by tidal marshes, coastal waters, and vistas of Lon Island Sound. The centerpiece of the property, which has a small private airport dating to the late 1930s, is a vintage World War II era airplane hangar that has been converted into a winery, tasting room and event space. Enjoy a wine tasting (4 wines). In addition, enjoy items from a cheese platter. There will be an assortment of cheese, olives, and crackers.
Johnathan Edwards Winery was a dairy farm that has been converted into a state-of-the-art winery which features a California-influenced tasting room and gift shop. You can enjoy sampling fine wines from the stone patio or nestled by the fire. The classic tasting (seven wines) is included, as well as local sausages.
Preston Ridge Vineyard is positioned at the peak of a ridge providing breathtaking views of over 20 miles of the Connecticut countryside. Here, you will get a tasting of 5 wines, a signature glass, and a glass of wine.
