Explore covered bridges galore, enjoy lunch at Bentley’s Restaurant, and visit Quechee Gorge Village, one of the best places to shop in all of Vermont!

Itinerary

Day 1 - Home - Woodstock, VT

Head to Vermont for a day of exploring covered bridges. There are just over 100 authentic covered bridges in the state of Vermont, giving the state the highest number of covered bridges per square mile in the United States. A covered bridge is considered authentic not due to its age, but by its construction. An authentic bridge is constructed using trusses. Join local tour guide Deborah Carbin as she gives the history timeline of Vermont and the towns you travel through. She will share information from her portfolio of covered bridge history, the construction differences in each bridge, and the hobo language that you can see carved on some of them.

Make a lunch stop at Bentley’s Restaurant which was established in 1976. Bentleys transformed from a florist shop, to an ice cream cafe, and ultimately to a full service restaurant operation.

The days final stop before heading home is at the Quechee Gorge Village. Quechee Gorge, known as “Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon,” is one of New England’s most popular natural wonders. Established in 1985, and located in the heart of the Quechee Gorge, Quechee Gorge Village has evolved into one of the best shopping attractions in the state of Vermont. The shops have Cabot Cheese (with many samples out), olive oils, unique Vermont gifts, and antiques galore.
