Itinerary
Day 1 - Newport, RI
Today we travel to beautiful Newport and explore the legacy of President Kennedy’s treasured City by the Sea.
We begin with a narrated motor-coach tour of Ocean Avenue led by Newport guide and author, Betty Czech, who will highlight Kennedy-related sights along the way. Next, we’ll enjoy lunch and take part in a round of Kennedy Trivia at La Forge Casino Restaurant, which overlooks the grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, where Jackie watched pro tennis tournaments from the Auchincloss family box seats.
After lunch, we pay a visit to St. Mary’s Church, where 800 guests attended the 1953 wedding of Jack & Jackie. We’ll be viewing Return to Camelot, a video & music presentation, and will also have time for photos & a visit to the pew number 10, where the Kennedys sat for Sunday Mass while summering in Newport. We’ll finish our day aboard The Gansett for a late afternoon harbor cruise, featuring an up-close view of Hammersmith Farm, home to the Kennedy wedding reception and hub of the “summer White House years”. Our bus returns to Madison around 7:30.
