Itinerary
Day 1 - Home - Staatsburgh, NY
Let’s take a trip back in time today and head to the history filled Hudson Valley in New York!
Our first stop of the day will be at Staatsburgh State Historic Site which is the elegant country home of Ogden Mills and his wife Ruth Livingston Mills. Sitting atop a grassy hill overlooking the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains, their house is a fine example of a great estate built by America’s financial and industrial leaders during the Gilded Age. Today, we will have a guided themed tour.
Lunch today will be at the Beekman Arms and Delamater Inn. Beekman Arms is the longest continuously run Inn in America. It opened in the early 1700’s and has been host to many famous American Revolution leaders such as: George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Benedict Arnold and Philp Schuyler. Lunch choices today are: Roasted Chicken Breast (Sundried Tomato Pesto, Yukon Gold Potatoes, and Fresh Seasonal Vegetables), Tournedos of Pork Tenderloin (Mead Orchard Apple Chutney, Yukon Gold Potatoes, and Fresh Seasonal Vegetables), or Dutch Style Turkey Pot Pie (Cheddar Bay Biscuit, Roasted Root Vegetables and Local Farm Mushrooms). All lunches come with bread and butter, salad, coffee, tea, soda, iced tea, and dessert.
While we are the Beekman, we will also be partaking in a Living History Tour. We will be taking a tour of America’s oldest inn and you may meet a Revolutionary War soldier, a Victorian hostess, a governor and a bootlegger, a runaway servant girl and a few surprises!
After the tour, have some free-time to shop! Check out the local chocolate stores, specialty food stores, clothing stores, antique stores and much more!
