Enjoy an authentic Vermont cheese-making experience and wine tasting on this Day Tour, featuring: beautiful Brattleboro, the Matterhorn Inn, and Honora Winery and Vineyards!
Itinerary
Day 1 - Brattleboro, VT
Spend some time today learning about wine at the Putney Mountain Winery which is located at Basketville. The Dodges began making wines in the 1990s. Charles who was then a professor of music at Dartmouth College, became intrigued by his students’ stories of brewing beer for fun. He even considered trying that himself. On his way home one day, he had an epiphany when he stopped at a local orchard. It was then and there that he decided to stick with Vermont tradition and craft delicious fruit wines from the delectable local produce. While at the winery today, enjoy a wine tasting.
This afternoon will bring you to Honora Winery and Vineyards. Here we will be greeted with a glass of wine while we sit down for lunch! Lunch will consist of either Roast Turkey or Baked Haddock. Lunch will also include salad, seasonal vegetables, a starch, and dessert. After lunch, there will be a “Vine to Wine” power point presentation, which includes the story of how they started and the wine making and grape growing process. During the time we spend here at Honora, we will be sampling different wines!
Also today, visit the Grafton Village Cheese Company. Here, you will experience the art of Vermont cheese making. If you can catch them on the right day, you can watch the cheese making process, or watch a short video on the process. Eat your way through the store as you tempt your taste buds with the various cheeses that they sell.
