Day 1 - Arrive Halifax, Nova Scotia
Your exploration of Canada’s Maritimes begins in Halifax, a city that perfectly embodies the warm and welcoming spirit of Nova Scotia. Brace yourself for invigorating sea breezes and genuine hospitality as you discover the best this coastal gem has to offer. Upon arrival*, transfer independently to your hotel before joining your Travel Director and fellow adventurers for dinner at a local favorite restaurant. (D)

Day 2 - Halifax
Begin your day with a guided Halifax sightseeing tour alongside a local (and kilted!) guide, who will share their knowledge and passion for the city’s maritime history. Enjoy a guided visit to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, where you’ll learn about the region’s storied past, including small craft boatbuilding, World War convoys, the age of steam, the tragic tale of the Titanic, and the Halifax explosion.
Next, step back in time at the Citadel National Historic Site, constructed in the mid-18th century to defend Halifax against its enemies. This iconic fortress offers a glimpse into the region’s military history and stunning views of the city and harbor.
Throughout the day, your local guide will share fascinating stories and insights, making your experience truly memorable as you immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Halifax. (B)
Day 3 - Halifax - Baddeck
Your day begins at the Millbrook Cultural and Heritage Centre, where you’ll learn about the Mi’kmaq lineage and intriguing Glooscap legends. Afterward, cross the Canso Causeway en route to the picturesque Cape Breton Island.
Upon arrival, you’ll visit the Gaelic College, where you’ll enjoy a brief kilt-making demonstration and pick up a few handy Gaelic phrases. Join in the lively spirit of a “milling frolic,” singing a traditional Gaelic song and tapping your feet to the rhythm.
As the evening approaches, savor a flavorful dinner featuring local ingredients and traditional Cape Breton dishes. (B,D)
Day 4 - Cape Breton Trail
Today, prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking coastal vistas and highland scenery as we journey through Cape Breton Highlands National Park. This unspoiled natural wonderland and its awe-inspiring coastal views provide a stunning backdrop for our drive along the famed Cabot Trail.
Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife such as moose and bald eagles, as we venture to the Gulf of St. Lawrence in search of majestic whales. Afterward, we’ll return to Baddeck, where you’ll have free time to explore the town’s charming shops, cafes, and attractions at your own pace. (B,L)
Note: Be sure to dress in layers and bring rain gear, as the weather along the Cabot Trail can change rapidly. Also, keep in mind that whale sightings are not guaranteed, but the scenery alone makes the journey unforgettable.
Day 5 - Baddeck - Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
Start your morning by paying homage to the world-renowned inventor Alexander Graham Bell at the National Historic Site dedicated to his life and work. Gain insights into his ingenious mind and explore his wide range of inventions, from airplanes and kites to innovations in deaf education and artificial respiration.
Unlock Bell’s legacy by perusing artifacts, photographs, and full-scale replicas that showcase his remarkable career as an engineer, inventor, scientist, and humanitarian.
Afterward, cross the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island, passing scenic pastoral landscapes and quaint gabled farmhouses along the way to Charlottetown. Tonight, indulge in a delicious dinner at Lobster on the Wharf, where you’ll enjoy local flavors and fresh ingredients in a charming atmosphere. (B,D)
Day 6 - Prince Edward Island
Enjoy a leisurely morning at your hotel, with breakfast included. Later this afternoon, join an island guide for a visit to the iconic Green Gables Heritage Place, where you’ll immerse yourself in the world of Anne of Green Gables and explore the beautiful landscapes that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved novels.
Continue to the Prince Edward Island National Seashore, a picturesque stretch of coastline with dramatic red sandstone cliffs, sandy beaches, and pristine dunes. Marvel at the beauty of the seascape and learn about the island’s unique ecosystem. Next, head to Cavendish for an enlightening oyster talk and taste experience. Day 7 - Charlottetown - St. John, New Brunswick
After departing Prince Edward Island, cross the impressive Confederation Bridge into New Brunswick. Your journey will take you to the captivating Hopewell Rocks*, a coastal marvel located along the rugged Bay of Fundy, known for its dramatic tides. Witness the unique flowerpot-shaped rock formations and, if the tide is low, venture onto the ocean floor to explore up close.
Continue on to the vibrant coastal city of Saint John, where you’ll check into your hotel and have leisure time to relax and settle in. (B)

Day 8 - St. John - Halifax
After breakfast, depart Saint John and board a ferry to cross the Bay of Fundy, arriving in the town of Digby. Your next stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg, where you’ll join a local guide for a walking tour. Wander past 18th-century and Victorian architecture while listening to engaging stories and learning about local lore. There will be free time for lunch before continuing on to Peggy’s Cove. Here, take in the refreshing ocean breeze as you explore Peggy’s Cove on St. Margaret’s Bay, a picturesque fishing village that has long been a source of inspiration for painters and photographers. The iconic Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse, built in 1868, stands guard over the rocky shoreline and serves as a symbol of the area’s maritime heritage.
