Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive Alexandria Bay, NY
Our trip begins early this morning to Upstate New York and the beautiful 1000 Islands. There are islands, both large and small, where the mighty St. Lawrence River meets Lake Ontario near the resort community of Alexandria Bay, NY. Appropriately enough, this region is called “The Thousand Islands”. Our accommodations for the next two evenings will be at the Riveredge Resort, located directly on the water. From the resort, you will see many large ships passing through the St. Lawrence Seaway, the main channel from the upper Great Lakes to the sea. Before dinner, enjoy a Tours of Distinction exclusive wine and cheese reception. Dinner is included at the hotel, and weather permitting, we will go into town and watch a famous sunset over the St. Lawrence. (D)
Day 2 - 1000 Islands
After a full breakfast buffet, included at the hotel, it is off to explore the 1000 Islands by water This international tour will take you on a 22-mile round-trip cruise through American and Canadian waters, and what is considered to be the ‘heart’ of the 1000 Islands, including Millionaire’s Row. You will have lively narrative from professional guides as you cruise through the narrow channels. During our cruise we will visit mysterious Singer Castle, on Dark Island, and romantic Boldt Castle on Heart Island. (Note: There will be some walking on both islands). Dinner is included this evening. (B,D)
Day 3 - Depart Alexandria Bay
After breakfast, we leave Alexandria Bay and travel to Herkimer, NY, located in the scenic Mohawk River Valley. Lunch is included, at Waterfront Grille, before we board the Erie Canal Cruise, that will take us on an excursion through the locks of the historic Erie Canal. (B,L)
