A Cape May Christmas

Today, we travel to the Southern tip of New Jersey to Cape May. For almost 170 years, Cape May has been one of the most popular seaside resorts in America, and dating all the way back to the 1850’s, Cape May was the vacation spot of choice for the rich and famous. Its’ turn of the century Victorian splendor is unmatched; even today, Cape May captivates visitors with its Victorian grandeur. This entire town is on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Victorian Holiday decorations are a treat to see. We’ll spend two nights at the 4-star La Mer Beach Resort on scenic Beach Drive. This popular hotel overlooks Cape May’s famous Atlantic Ocean beaches. Enjoy a hot cocoa reception upon arrival before we get together for a welcome dinner. (D)

Breakfast is included this morning before we experience the Victorian side of Cape May. Starting with a guided tour through the Emlen Physick Estate, we’ll have a glimpse into a bygone era. We’ll also visit the Carriage House Art Gallery on the Estate grounds. We’ll also admire Cape May’s unique architectural styles and folklore, but of course, no trip to Cape May would be complete without a visit to the Washington Street Mall that runs through the center of town. It’s a nostalgic, old fashioned Main Street, the way shopping used to be.  There will also be a holiday lights trolley ride through the streets of Cape May. Tonight enjoy dinner at popular Cape May restaurant. (B,D)

 A Full breakfast is included again this morning at the Resort before we head off for New York City. There will be free time for lunch before we’ll take our reserved seats at Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes. What a grand conclusion to our holiday tour! Approximate return home at 8:00 pm. (B)
