Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive Lancaster, PA
Today we travel to Pennsylvania Dutch Country on this trip by motorcoach, home of the Amish and the state capitol of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg. Along the way we will stop for lunch before arriving in Lancaster and checking into the Cork Factory Hotel, a member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of America. This historic boutique hotel will be where we are staying for the next two evenings. The Cork Factory Hotel was once a 19th century cork manufacturing giant, the Armstrong Cork and Kerr Glass Companies that put this area on the map. Dinner is included this evening, at the home of an Amish Family. (L,D)
Day 2 - Sight & Sounds Daniel
This morning, we enjoy a full breakfast before heading out into the heart of Lancaster County where we enjoy a guided tour of Lancaster from a local expert. Enjoy picturesque scenery, pristine Amish farms, a one-room schoolhouse, wind-wheels, and so much more. After the tour, we make a stop at Kitchen Kettle Village, where we can shop at 40 local shops brimming with homemade Lancaster Country food, locally made bags and accessories, primitives, braided rugs, quilts, candles, cigars, ceramics, pottery, paintings, Dutch country furniture and much more. Today, lunch is on your own at the Village that has a variety of restaurants.
Leaving the village we will head to the Sight and Sound Theatre to take our reserved orchestra seats for their production of “Noah.” With a catastrophic storm on its way, Noah is given a monumental task: build a boat big enough to save his family from a flood that will cover the entire earth. As Noah endeavors to live faithfully in the midst of an increasingly chaotic world, can he trust that God’s promises run deeper than the rising waters around him? This evening, dinner is included at the Lititz Springs Inn. (B,D)
Day 3 - Depart Lancaster, PA
This morning, after breakfast, we travel to the town of Lititz, PA, to the Barnyard Art Studio and Gallery for a special program called Chalk Talk. An Old Order Mennonite artist will amaze you with her artistry in chalk. The artist creates a picture of beautiful scenery in Amish life with chalk while music is played, and an inspirational personal narration of her chalk painting is told. This captivating show offers a rare look into the lives of the “Plain People.” The Art Studio also offers a selection of well-priced handmade Amish arts and crafts. After we depart the art studio, we will stop for lunch before heading home. (B,L)
