Day 1 - Home - White Mountains, NH
Take a journey with Tours of Distinction to see Maine’s coastline before heading inland to New Hampshire’s stunning White Mountains! Our journey begins with an early morning departure for Portland, ME. After enjoying lunch on own, we will enjoy a fully narrated cruise exploring Portland’s Harbor and visiting some of the lighthouses that have been guided mariners into Portland for over a century! After, we head to DiMillo’s On the Water for a wonderful dinner. From dinner we check into our hotel for the next two nights, The Indian Head Resort, located in the heart of the White Mountains. (D)
Day 2 - White Mountains,NH
After a hot breakfast at the hotel, we travel to the Lucknow Estate, better known as the Castle in the Clouds, originally built in 1913-1914. Formerly home to Thomas Gustave Plant, the estate has been beautifully preserved as if time has stood still since the early 1900’s, allowing visitors to step into the shoes of the Plants to see life as they would have. After, we enjoy lunch at the Lucknow Estate’s Carriage House Restaurant, before traveling back into the White Mountains to visit Cannon Mountain. To reach the summit, we step into the Aerial Tramway, a cable car that will bring us to the 4,080-foot summit in under ten minutes! On a clear day, we can see the mountains of four states and Canada. Once at the summit, there will be time to enjoy the walking paths, the observation deck, and the other amenities offered. To end our day, we will return to the hotel, where the we have dinner before spending the remainder of the evening on own. (B, L, D)
Day 3 - White Mountains, NH - Home
Following breakfast, our journey takes us to the Winnipesauke Scenic Railroad. Here, we enjoy the ride through the New Hampshire countryside, passing by various historic sites related the railroad. While aboard the train, enjoy an included lunch. After, we disembark and head for home with memories of this amazing journey from the sea up into the sky! (B, L)
